Stop to excesses? Yes, or maybe not. Ferrari Fashion School celebrates a powerful woman in a hymn to femininity which crosses times and spaces with a collective project presented at Fashion Graduate Italia 2018.
As observer, one of the most interesting things I’ve seen at Fashion Graduate Italia is that so many and different fashion schools peacefully divided the spaces of Base Milano in a very positive atmosphere, taking this experience, more than competitors, as an important occasion to compare their educational methods, ideas and results.

Visiting this event, a young aspiring designer who’d like to study fashion had the occasion to take a look in one shot to almost all the best Italian schools, speaking directly with teachers and already graduated students, starting to get an idea about the future in some academy. But especially falling in love with the style embodied by every school.

FERRARI FASHION SCHOOL
Far from the hyperbolic flights of fancy or conceptualism typical of many graduate collections, that could be pleasant but sometimes too exaggerated, FERRARI FASHION SCHOOL, to which I’ve already dedicated an article as guide aspiring designers,opted for a return to the basic value of fashion: emphasizing beauty through a high quality tailoring and a captivating design.

“Femininity celebration across the Universe #19” it’s a kind of fashion history book in which the old pictures come again to life completely renewed to be adapted to contemporary instances. Pay attention. This is not only a work of revival (already seen so many times on much famous catwalks), but an attentive will to reach the roots of female essence analyzing its mutability across history and countries.

Jumping between eras and lands we can find the 50s Haute Couture lines revisited in patent leather mixed with cancan-style feathers skirts, prints and silhouettes recalling the influence that Japanese art had on Impressionist artists, but also the military uniforms which blend their seriousness with the rebel spirits of Sixties and Seventies.

There’s non shortage of references to 80s glam rock, to 90s Minimalism, to fairy princesses or to fashion icons like Madonna wearing Jean Paul Gaultier, a “rockoco” Marie Antoinette or Queen Victoria. To move then toward contemporary times with a more vanguard part which proposed suits incorporating led lighting, Japanese volumes, hi-tech fabrics or experimentation on exoskelethons.
